Kanchipattu Saree Care Instructions

1. First Wash – Dry Clean Only:
For the first few uses, always dry clean your Kuppadam saree. This helps preserve the silk-cotton blend, color, and zari weave.

2. Gentle Hand Wash (Only After Multiple Wears):

  • If you choose to hand wash later, use cold water and a mild silk-safe detergent.

  • Gently swirl; do not rub, wring, or soak for long.

  • Avoid washing frequently to preserve the fabric and zari.

3. Drying:

  • Do not dry in direct sunlight — it can cause fading and weaken the zari.

  • Dry in shade and avoid hanging the saree by the zari border.

4. Ironing:

  • Use a low to medium heat setting.

  • Always place a thin cotton cloth over the saree while ironing, especially on zari areas.

  • Avoid steam directly on zari.

5. Storage:

  • Fold and store the saree in a muslin or pure cotton cloth.

  • Avoid plastic covers, as they trap moisture and damage zari.

  • Refold every few months to prevent creasing and zari breakage.
