Kalamkari Cotton Saree – Care Instructions
First Wash (Highly Recommended):
Dry Clean Only for the first wash to preserve natural dyes and prevent color bleeding.
Subsequent Washes:
Use mild, pH-neutral detergents or a natural soap like reetha or soapnut.
Wash separately in cold water to avoid color transfer.
Do not soak the saree for long periods.
Prefer gentle hand wash; avoid using a washing machine.
Drying:
Dry in shade only, preferably on a flat surface.
Avoid direct sunlight, as it can fade the natural vegetable dyes.
Ironing:
Use a medium to low heat setting when ironing.
Always iron on the reverse side to protect the hand-printed design.
Storage:
Store in a cool, dry place, ideally wrapped in a muslin or cotton cloth.
Avoid using plastic covers for long-term storage.
Avoid:
Bleach, strong detergents, and fabric softeners.
Spraying perfumes or deodorants directly on the fabric.
